My Tho - Ho Chi Minh City Disembark

Disembark after breakfast and transfer to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s bustling metropolis. Upon arrival, check in to the Caravelle hotel a luxurious retreat combining French elegance and Vietnamese charm. This afternoon,   

enjoy a private tour exploring Saigon. The War Remnants Museum has a wealth of images from the wars. The Reunification Palace was the former residence of the President of South Vietnam until April 30, 1975 when the North Vietnamese tanks came crashing through the front gates, bringing the U.S.-Vietnam War to a dramatic end. Close to the Palace some of the best examples of French colonial architecture are represented in the forms of Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Notre Dame Cathedral (under renovation) was built between 1877 and 1883, and the stones used to create it were exported in its entirety from France. Next to the cathedral stands the Central Post Office, finished in 1891. It is another fine example of French architecture and is Vietnam's largest post office. After the tour, we return to the hotel for a short rest.

Late afternoon, embark on a Saigon 'After Dark Vespa Tour', riding pillion on vintage Vespas for an immersive evening experience. Start with sunset drinks at a rooftop bar overlooking the city skyline before weaving through bustling boulevards and atmospheric backstreets. Along the way, we stop at popular local eateries to sample classic Saigon dishes, visit a Vietnamese-style café with live music, and finish at a vibrant music bar. All food and drinks are included, offering an unforgettable taste of Saigon nightlife.

Hoi An Cooking class 

Visit Hoi An’s colourful market this morning, and experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of this busy market. We will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and learn about all the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later.

We board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. 

On arrival, we explore the cooking school’s herb garden, before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for 2 hours – the Red Bridge chefs first demonstrate each dish before we prepare the same dish ourselves. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration). After the lesson, we sit down and eat what we have cooked.

Explore the hidden alleys and ancient architecture of Hoi An's historic Old Town. 

 Then, leaving the town behind, your adventure continues along a maze of zigzagging back roads, leading you into the heart of the picturesque countryside, filled with lush green rice paddies and serene waterways. Here, panoramic views of lush green rice paddies and tranquil waterways stretch as far as the eye can see. Experience the local charm with an exhilarating bamboo basket boat ride through the serene nipa-palm mangrove channels, a unique experience in the coco-palm forest. Along the way, there are also opportunities for a delightful coffee break with a mesmerizing view of the rice fields, and enjoy a visit to an interesting up-cycling gallery, where local art and culture come to life. The tour concludes with a delectable lunch at our local restaurant, where you’d enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a warm and welcoming setting. After lunch, a quick transfer takes your back to your hotel. The afternoon is at leisure, then we meet up for dinner at a local restaurant.

After breakfast, transfer from your hotel to Da Nang Airport for your flight to Hanoi. The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy a gentle introduction to the capital. You may choose to stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake, watch daily life unfold in the Old Quarter, or relax at a café observing the constant flow of scooters and street vendors. Late afternoon we will take you on a culinary adventure, sampling street food in the Old Quarter. It’s a great opportunity to try all those weird and wonderful foods you see but just aren’t sure what they are! Try the local brew, a draft beer that traces its roots to Eastern Europe. Continue through the old quarter’s narrow streets as your guide points out a range of tasty noodles, breads and snacks. At night the sidewalks are packed with locals perched on stools, amongst sizzling woks and bubbling pots. These small pop up restaurants are a nightly feature that all but disappear during the day. Sit down and enjoy a cup of egg coffee. End the night with dessert from Hanoi’s best-known ice-cream parlor.

   Ha Noi to Ha Long Bay 

This morning we depart from Hanoi, travelling to Tuan Chau International Port. On arrival, complete check-in at the Indochine Lounge before boarding the Indochine Premium Cruise. Enjoy a welcome drink and safety briefing, then sit down to a buffet lunch as the ship glides through Ha Long Bay, passing iconic limestone formations such as Incense Burner and Kissing Rock.

During the afternoon, explore one of the bay’s most impressive natural wonders, Surprise Cave or Me Cung Cave, followed by a choice of kayaking or a locally rowed sampan through the tranquil Luon Cave. As the ship anchors for the night, relax on the sundeck, swim in the pool, or enjoy mini-golf. Later, take part in a cooking demonstration or fruit carving lesson before an elegant dinner. This morning we enjoy the sights of Hanoi by jeep, revealing the 'real Hanoi'.  We explore maze-like backstreets, alleys, local homes, schools, markets, and even black marketplaces, experiencing the authentic daily life of Hanoi residents. The tour emphasizes both the charming and unusual aspects of the city.

We also visits Hanoi’s must-see landmarks, including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Tran Quoc Buddhist temples, Hanoi Train Street, the French Quarter, Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem and West Lake, Hanoi Opera House, and the iconic Long Bien Bridge.

The experience concludes with a visit to the Hidden Gem Cafe, offering authentic, healthy, and organic Hanoi cuisine. You then have a free afternoon to relax or do some last minute shopping before a farewell dinner in the evening, rounding out a full day of discovery, culture, and culinary delights.
